Indications:

Ampicillin Sodium for Injection works by interfering with the ability of bacteria to form cell walls, ultimately killing the bacteria.

Contra-indications:

A history of hypersensitivity reactions to penicillins is a contraindication for the use of this product.

Adverse Effects:

Severe allergic reactions, bloody stools, severe diarrhea, stomach pain/cramps, and vaginal irritation or discharge may occur.

Drug Interactions:

While hormonal birth control may not be affected, some antibiotics may decrease their effectiveness. Additional reliable birth control methods may be necessary. Ampicillin may also cause false positive results with certain diabetic urine testing products.
